Manufacturing in Ireland has experienced huge changes in recent years. The sector
has experienced significant employment declines over the past decade, driven by
a combination of erosion in competitiveness domestically and external factors
such as the global financial crisis that impact on the demand for manufactured
goods. This report, requested by Government under the Action Plan for Jobs 2012,
assesses the skills needs of the manufacturing sector to 2020.
